PUWMA is made by Mariteq Solutions Ltd, an established Irish company specialising in marine electronic systems. We design and manufacture portable sonar for search, recovery and survey teams, and supply trained marine engineers for service support across the maritime industry.

Two lines of work, one engineering team.
Portable sonar
Design and manufacture of the PUWMA range: rugged, portable sonar systems that deploy from a RIB in minutes, with crew training and an annual service.
Marine engineering services
Highly trained marine engineering staff providing service support to vessels and operators within the maritime industry.

PUWMA was developed with operators from the start. Every unit that trialled the prototype went on to order.
2021 · Field trials
The prototype was tested extensively by Cork City Missing Persons Search & Recovery and trialled by two government agencies.
Oct 2021 · First units
Every unit that ran the trials placed an order. Local Enterprise Office mentoring and support helped finalise the design.
Nov 2022 · Training
Our crew training programme was finalised and delivered to existing clients.
Oct 2025 · PUWMA 2.0
A major upgrade shaped by operator feedback: better imaging, portability and power management.
2026 · PUWMA ASV
An uncrewed survey vessel in field trials, developed with the Halpin Centre for Research and Innovation.
Q1 2027 · PUWMA LINK
Live sonar imagery streamed to the command station over WiFi and SDR radio.
